We Remember
WESTGATE, Iris Audrey
May 1, 1939 — April 24, 2023
Iris Audrey, a teenage slip of a woman lived above her family, the Campbells, general store in the newly established Little Prairie. The Westgate family, farmers turned loggers, would send a shy handsome boy to town to get supplies. He would always politely knock the mud from his big ol’boots on the side of the building before entering, which would send Iris’s heart skipping down the stairs to greet him with her own beautiful, shy country charm.
Theirs was a genuine love story that will long outlive their short 60-year marriage. Together they built a wonderful life, and their souls clearly became one. Sightings of one without the other became rare and unnatural. Sure, Des would venture out on his own, but being away from Iris was always too much to bare.
Together they built an Arabian Horse farm (Arab Acres), their own grocery store (Chetwynd IGA) a family of two kids (Randy & Wendy) and a slew of Grandkids (David, Lonnie, Mark, Ben, Landon, Adam). Iris has again heard Des’s knocking and has now followed him up the stairs where he anxiously awaits her with her beloved brother Kenny, and grandsons Lonnie and Adam.
Those of us they leave behind cannot express our gratitude for the imprint their gentle, kind souls made on our hearts. This world will never again be as beautiful to us as it was with them in it.
We will love you both forever. Thank-you for all you gave us.
By her request, there will be no formal service. She will be honoured in the hearts of those who had the joy of knowing her.

So much time has passed. Some how we have lost touch over the years. Be sure to get the poker chips out for when we meet again💝
