We Remember

WICKMAN, Jean Evelyn

March 2, 1924 — May 9, 2025

The warm and outgoing Jean Wickman passed away on May 9, 2025, in Kelowna, BC, at the grand age of 101. Jean’s love and companionship blessed two marriages, first with Gordon Currie, then with Erik Wickman – both gone before her. She has now gone to join them, along with her beloved daughter, Gail Roberge, and her three siblings: brothers, George McDougall and Frank McDougall, and her sister Dorothy Weatherbee.

A devoted mother to her two daughters, she is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Peter) Clark and her son-in-law Dennis (Donna) Roberge. She was a doting grandmother to Wayde (Scarlett) Clark, Danelle Clark, and Lindsay (Grant) Bond; and a beloved great-grandmother to Keagan Clark, Oliver Bond, Lila Bond, and Leo Bond. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jean’s roots ran deep in the Okanagan, where she was born, lived, and passed away. During her 101 years she witnessed many changes, travelling in horse and wagon, to flying in a jet; she lived during turmoil, and she lived during prospering times. Her knowledge and character was shaped by all that she experienced. Raising her family was a point of pride for her, and on top of that, she also worked at Gordon’s Super Valu for 25 years.

Social and friendly, everyone loved “Auntie Jean”! She adored when the family would gather.

All throughout her life she enjoyed travelling, Jean explored many parts of Canada and the United States, she was even able to cross the pond and visit Europe – a highlight for her.

Later in life, Jean could be often found enjoying the fun at Bingo, card games, and carpet bowling.

Jean lived long and fully, she will continue to live on in our memories. In keeping with Jean’s wishes, no funeral service will be held, but we will honour her in our hearts.
