We Remember

WILSON, Gladys M.

September 1, 1929 — August 27, 2022

With fond memories and much love, we regret to announce that Gladys Wilson passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022. Gladys was 92 years of age.

Gladys was born in Vancouver, BC on September 01, 1929. As a young girl, she moved to Port Alice, BC with her mother, Kathleen. She grew up in a blended family with stepbrothers Phillip, Bruce, Gerry, and Maurice Watson and also her extended family the Earles. As a young woman, she was the Postmistress for Port Alice in the 1950s where
she met her future husband Ronald Wilson, a young Chemical Engineer who worked at the pulp mill. Gladys moved to Prince George, BC with Ron in the 1970s and worked in
accounting and cash management for Woodward’s Department store. On Ron’s retirement in the 1980s they moved to Penticton, BC and there they had a busy life with travel, friends, and volunteer work at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church.

Gladys was a kind, observant, generous person who loved life. The Coffee Gang will miss her generous smile. Gladys enjoyed travel and some of her fondest memories
were bus and cruise trips with Ron, and later, trips with her great nephew Alexander Haley and his father Mark. Her cheese strip biscuits were always a hit at the Wilson
clan gatherings. In her later years, she moved to Kelowna, BC to be with and cared for by her loving family.

We wish to thank Family Physicians Dr. Richard Tatum, (Penticton), Dr, Wendy Wickstom (Kelowna), the staff at Hawthorn Retirement Park and Glenmore Lodge Care Community for their excellent care. And, we are grateful to the doctors and nurses at the Kelowna General Hospital as well, for their kind supervision and medical management.

A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at St Saviour’s Anglican Church, 150 Orchard Avenue, Penticton, BC V2A 1X8, 250 492-4325, with Reverend Nicholas Pang officiating. A reception will follow immediately in the church hall.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Canadian Red Cross to honour the life of our dear Gladys.
