POSTPONED SERVICE – WILSON, Michael Robert
June 28, 1955 — March 19, 2022
Michael Wilson passed away on March 19, 2022. He was born in Kelowna, BC on June 28, 1955, and is survived by his wife, Deidre, and daughters, Kazha & Jade. He will also be missed by his brothers David, Don, & Peter, and sisters Noreen Schmidt & Loraine Kemp. He was predeceased by his brother Murray, his father Leslie Wilson, and his mother Elsie Wilson.
Michael was creative in countless ways. He gifted his family and friends with his calligraphy, swords made from hardwood, and his adorable cartoon Crane family on cards. His church family will remember Michael for proudly singing in various choirs. Even though Michael suffered through many physical ailments throughout most of his life, his positive outlook and humour inspired more than just his family. His passing will leave a hole in many lives, but his memory will live on to inspire others.
The family thanks the entire staff of the Kelowna General Hospital, Dr. Dean Griswold, Lindsay Maxwell NP, and Dr. Gordon Black for their care and kindness over the past decades, and more recently the staff of Spring Valley Care Centre for their kind palliative care.
In consideration for the safety of everyone involved, Michael Wilson’s Celebration of Life previously planned for April 16th will be postponed for now.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a financial donation to the Transplant Research Foundation of BC Fund in honour of Michael Wilson or contact BC Transplant 1 800 663 6189 to register for organ donation, which was truly the gift of life for Michael.

Wilson Family: Love lives on in the hearts of all who remember and care. Sharing your sorrow with our deepest sympathy. Mike will live in our memory as a caring, happy, loving person. Gerry enjoyed so many crazy, dangerous, and heart filling experiences in our youth and have several of his hand drawn art works he called Christmas Cards, over the years since. I must share something my daughter expressed to me when we visited Mike in hospital several years ago. “Dad, is that Jesus?” No my daughter, but Jesus is with him. Thanks for the memories Michael! You will live always in our hearts!
Kim and Gerry
Dear Deidre, Kazha, Jade, Noreen, David, Don, Peter and Lorraine, I have so many wonderful memories of
Mike – from being kids in the mission – growing up together a few house apart on the lake, to being fun loving teens and young adults. Chinese food sticks in my mind! Then to the arrival of Kazha and Jade. We were lucky enough to have Mike stay with us during some of his treatments and then to have Deidre and the girls stay with us during some of Mike’s hospitalization post transplant. Mike’s amazing calligraphy was always something that our family looked forward to receiving. I also have memories of Mike’s lovely guitar playing and kind, gentle soul. Our thoughts are with you. Cindy (Collett), Steve Given and family
