‘UPDATED’ WILSON, Peter Howell
—
April 18, 1931 – July 24, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter Howell Wilson on July 24, 2021, in Kelowna B.C., at the proud age of 90 years. He was a wonderful loving husband, cherished adored father, admired father-in-law, dearly loved grandfather, dear brother, loved uncle, and respected friend.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Rosemary of 62 years; beloved daughters Heather (Stephen) Kaczor of Maple Ridge B.C., and Nancy (Bruno) Curatolo of Kelowna B.C.; granddaughters Michelle and Sarah Kaczor, Melissa, and Amanda Curatolo; brother Doug (Tina) Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Gwyneth, brother Ted, nephew Andrew; and grandson Marco.
Peter grew up in Ontario and moved to B.C. in 1955, living in Victoria, Kitimat, and Vancouver before moving to Kelowna.
Peter was an instructor in Carpentry and Building Construction at BCIT from 1972-1995. He co-authored a Metric Edition Carpentry textbook in 1982 and wrote carpentry manuals.
He used his skills to build sundecks and basements while operating his own construction company in Vancouver. After moving to Kelowna in 1998, he designed and built our own house. Peter was very talented in woodworking, with a fully equipped workshop, and had numerous trade skills.
Peter was very involved in the United Church and volunteered countless hours on many committees. He assisted in many major projects and enjoyed the fellowship at the church. Peter was a true Christian and lived his faith.
Peter was a member of the Lions Club in Vancouver for several years.
In Peter’s younger years, he was a member of Scouts Canada, being both a youth member and leader. He was proud to reach King Scout distinction in Ontario.
Peter was a kind and generous man, who would always help anyone, anytime, anywhere. Peter was a true gentleman, honest and hardworking. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and was always cheerful and positive. When Peter whistled a tune, it reflected his inner happiness.
Peter enjoyed tennis, badminton, golf, curling and bowling. He also enjoyed the friendships and conversations held around a cup at coffee time.
Peter enjoyed travelling with Rosemary, especially on cruise ships, and he loved the outdoors, gardening, camping in their trailer and picnicking.
Over the last few years, he revived an old talent and enjoyed painting with acrylics, painting birds, flowers and each of his granddaughters. He also was interested in genealogy, tracing the Wilson family back many generations.
Peter was a devoted family man and was deeply loved by his loving wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and granddaughters. Peter had a special name as a grandfather, and was affectionately known as “Baka”, a name he truly cherished.
Peter will be forever missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Z. Hendriks for his care of Peter.

Thank you very much Lorraine!
Our hearts and prayers go out to Rosemary and her family at this very difficult time. Allan enjoyed working with Peter at St. Paul’s United Church and it was always nice for us to meet him at the bowling alley on Tuesday mornings. Rest In Peace, Peter.

Thank you to all the family for sharing stories about Peter at the service. It was nice to learn a little more about this wonderful man. I think the next time I have lemon meringue pie, or ice cream, I will think of Peter. Wish I could be there with you all today, but know that I am thinking of you. Hugs, Tiana
My condolences to all of the family. I have very fond memories indeed of the Wilsons at Knox United Church in Vancouver. Peter designed and built the stages in the sanctuary and in the hall for our musicals. It was amazing what he created. I know that he was so very proud of his daughters as they performed with the Youth Choir. Peter was one of those individuals at the church who was always involved and always offering! Blessings on all.
Peter will be fondly remembered for his kind and gentle manner. It was our pleasure to have had dinner with Peter and Rosemary while cruising to Hawaii and it was nice to see them both when we visited our parents Art and Vicki Pedlar in Kelowna. We send prayers to Rosemary and Family.
Tim and Liz Carroll.
