We Remember
WIRICK (nee Vey), Patricia (Patt) Louise
November 16, 1931 — October 3, 2018
Our mom passed away suddenly in Kelowna with family by her side. Born to George and Vie Vey in Burnaby, BC. Patt grew up in Burnaby, graduating from Burnaby North High School. She went on to work for Travellers Insurance and CN Telegraph before marrying and settling in Coquitlam. After her daughters were born she worked part time for Calhoon Realtors in New Westminster and as a teacher’s aide in the Burnaby School District where she truly found a niche—not just preparing materials for the teachers but supporting some of the more mischievous students when the walls of the classroom were too small. She will be fondly remembered for her love of board games, making of soups, and wonderful recommendations of books. Mom always had time for a chat or a joke and loved hearing about her family’s adventures. She will be the angel presiding over her granddaughter Diamir’s upcoming wedding. No doubt she’s already reconnected with brother Bob who loved to laugh together with her. Holding a special place in the hearts of husband Harold or ‘Whip’, daughters Kim de Scally (Fes), Tammy Wirick (Gord Lee), and grandchildren Malika de Scally (Micaela), Diamir de Scally (Geoff), Quinn Lee and Georgia Lee. Survived also by sister Suzanne Taylor and sister-in-law Rosalie Vey. Special thanks to Nurse Sean in the SCCU and the team of cardiac doctors at Kelowna General Hospital. A thank you also to Dr. Marjorie Docherty for our mom’s excellent care over the past 25 years. At Patt’s request, there will be no service. Our mom was a strong supporter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and anyone wishing to make a donation in her name can do so to the British Columbia SPCA. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
We are all so saddened by the recent passing of our good friend Patt
We first met her at the pool and she was always so positive and happy and so interested in our lives. Later we formed a birthday group and she joined us for each of our special days celebrating with lunch .Oh how we laughed and talked. We are going to miss you Patt but we feel so blessed that you touched our lives.
Safe journey home dear friend.
Love Gayle Katherine Noreen Susan Christa
