We Remember

WOLF, Joelle

March 17, 1995 — September 22, 2023

Joelle Wolf, 28, passed away on September 22, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering advocacy for justice. Born in Lethbridge, Joelle’s journey led her to diverse corners of the country, but once she put down roots, beautiful children bloomed: Leviathan, Evelyn, Lily, and Ivy Amelia. Their laughter, dreams, and memories formed the melody to which Joelle danced. Her talent for organizing themed parties showcased her impeccable attention to detail, turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories for her children.

Joelle “Joei” is also survived by her heartbroken mother, Dorothy Zunti (Duncan Fortin) of  Kelowna, BC; sister, Jasmine Pouce Coupe (Lonny), of Savona, BC; brother, Jareb Coupe (Kate and Tora), of Peachland, BC; father, Scott Davidson, of Lethbridge, AB; and her love, Jeffery Cutts, of Kelowna. She is also survived by Hunter Gowing, the father of Evie and Lily; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family; and her best friends, especially Jassmyn Van Hoorn and Alli Gowing.

Joelle was not just a doting mother; she was a force of nature in the world of social activism. She ardently championed causes close to her heart – equal rights, bodily autonomy, mental health, and science. Her voice, both gentle and fierce, reached out, touching hearts and reshaping perspectives. Her impact, both on a macro and microscale, remains evident in the lives she touched, the stories she shared, and the change she instigated.

Animals found in Joelle a kindred spirit. Her compassion, boundless and genuine, was a testament to her belief that every life mattered. Every creature, big or small, felt her warmth, and her love for them was reflective of her broader perspective on life – one of respect, understanding, and deep affection.

Joelle’s love story with her family was the stuff of legends. It was in the quiet moments, the shared smiles, and the unspoken understanding that one could see the depth of her love, especially for her cherished mama. While the world mourns the loss of a fierce activist and a loving mother, we find solace in the knowledge that Joelle’s legacy, carved from love and determination, will forever remain.

In lieu of flowers, donations for the Canadian Mental Health Association in Kelowna would be greatly appreciated.
