We Remember
WOOD, Kevin Donald
July 19, 1950 — June 4, 2024
It is with great sadness and a deep love that we announce the loss of Kevin Donald Wood, who peacefully passed on after a rapid and challenging bout of a rare intestinal cancer on June 4, 2024, at the age of 73.
Kevin was a kind, generous, compassionate, and empathetic soul with a sharp wit and a quirky sense of humour which was on exhibit until his last breath. He will be remembered for his love of music, his passion for reading, his life-long enjoyment of cycling, and his love of a good dog (and they are all good dogs). He made so many wonderful memories with his family and friends — parties, dinners, travel, hikes, ski trips, concerts, conversations, and walks. But food was his love language, and he welcomed so many people to his table, where he prepared and served so many fabulous meals so we could enjoy each other’s company.
Left to treasure his memory is his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara Wood; his younger sister Cathy Wood of El Paso, Tx.; his in-law family of Grochmals; as well as nieces, nephews, and many treasured friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, George and Mary Wood; his older sister, Barbara Gilbert; and nephews Glenn and David Gonin.
Kevin felt very strongly that no one should ever go hungry, so if you would like to honour him, he asked that memorial donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Food Bank, or the local food bank in your own community.
At his request, there will be no formal service.

Barbara, Ena and I offer you our heartfelt sympathy. We were so shocked to hear of Kevin’s recent health challenges from Pam and Dale. It was a great priveledge to have worked with Kevin and got to know him.
Did Kevin ever work at Syncrude during the late 70s and early 80s? If so, I knew him well. Great work collegue and even a better person. My condolences to his family.
Hello Barbara, I am very sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. I remember him fondly from Shell as a witty and cheerful colleague. I’m sure he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
I had the good fortune to meet Kevin while working at Syncrude and subsequently to work under his direction a few times at Shell. On these occasions Kevin’s style always made one feel they were working with him, not for him. My wife, Rosemary, and I also had the pleasure to meet with Kevin and Barb for several social occasions and we feel that we can attest to all of the positive qualities others have mentioned. So it is with great sadness that we pass our sincere condolences along to Barb and family, and wish you strength during this difficult time.
