WOODMAN, John “Jack”
January 3, 1931 — December 11, 2021
Jack Woodman passed away peacefully at Sun Pointe Care Centre, Kelowna, on December 11, 2021 at the age of 90.
Loving father of David (Franca), Paul (Cheryl), and Deborah (Nicole); cherished grandfather of six and great-grandfather of three; Jack was predeceased by his wife Rosemary; and siblings Stanley, Gordon and Gladys (Lester).
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit, kindness, and helpfulness.
Special thanks to the kind staff of KGH, Cottonwoods Care, Mission Creek and Sun Pointe Homes for their compassionate care.

I knew Jack Woodman for only six weeks, but he made a lasting impression on me. We were both in Cottonwoods Care Facility late in 2019. He was there when I arrived and was still there when I left. His bed and mine were side by side so we got to know each other quite well. Together with two others – Stan and Chuck – we always had our meals together at the same round table in the dining area. Despite our various ailments and incapacities, the four of us had a lot of fun; indeed the staff referred to our table as “the happy table.” Jack was a character and I came away from Cottonwoods with quite a fund of what I call my “Jack Stories,” describing the various things he had said and done.
After leaving Cottonwoods in November 2019, I never saw Jack again. I managed to get back there just before Christmas, primarily to bring some chocolates for the staff who had looked after us so well. I asked where I would find Jack, but he had finally gone and the administrative lady would not tell me where – citing privacy. As it turned out, Covid started shortly thereafter so I probably would not have been able to visit him, even if I had known where he was. Nonetheless, I regret not having been able to see him in his new care home and I hope that he got the private room with his own TV that he was so looking forward to.
Jack often spoke to me about his life and his three children. He was profoundly fond and proud of you all, and I send my condolences to you on the loss of your remarkable Dad.
