We Remember

WUTKE, Rennis “Rennie” Lloyd

December 28, 1950 — November 23, 2023

Born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan on December 28, 1950, Rennie Wutke passed away suddenly, surrounded by family, on November 23, 2023, at the age of 72 years, in Kelowna, BC.

Rennie is survived by Cheryl, his wife of over 50 years; sons, Sean, Jason (Shelly), and Tyler; grandchildren, Andrew (Leah), Ava (Ryder), Camryn, Nate, Jackson, and Nico; sister Elaine (Don); brothers, Kevin (Connie) and Gary (Marnee); and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Lillian, and brothers Brian and Kenneth.

Rennie had a lifelong love for sports including hockey, golf, skiing, and football. He would often be playing, coaching, volunteering, or watching.  In addition to being a director for the Okanagan Sun Football Team for over 10 years, he provided support by fundraising and attending their games to assist in any other tasks needed by the club. He was appointed as Operations Chair (from 2016 to 2022) for the PGA Tour Canada’s MacKenzie Golf Tournament, held at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf course in Kelowna. In August 2018, he was selected as a Marshal for the LPGA golf tournament held in Regina, Sask. He enjoyed these roles, especially being able to converse with the golfers and fans.

Passionate about helping his local community, Rennie canvassed for the Kidney Foundation and volunteered for the Central Okanagan Food Bank for many years. His support for the food bank involved shift work for various tasks, as well as delivering Christmas hampers in the community.

As a well-established professional possessing strong interpersonal skills, striking a conversation with anyone was second nature to Rennie. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often sharing stories and laughter.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Kelowna General Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2023, at 4:00 PM, at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME located at 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
