YACIANSKY, Betty Martha (nee Rieger)

Our dear Mom passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2017 at 85 years of age. Survived by her loving family, daughter Elaine (Moe) Poitras of Kelowna; son Allan (Sherryl) Yaciansky of the Sunshine Coast; sisters: Christina of Provost, SK, Barbara of Kelowna; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, step-children, step-grandchildren and extended family. Predeceased by her husband Jerry. Mom was born on November 15, 1931 in Lloydminster, Alberta. Betty, Barbara and their parents moved to Kelowna in 1945. Betty worked as a grocery cashier for many years at Wellburns in Victoria, at Dion’s in Rutland and then at Cooper’s in Rutland. She met her husband Jerry in 1954 and they were married for 61 years. Jerry passed away just seven weeks ago. Mom loved fishing, camping and travelling. She enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 21st at 10:00 am at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC, with Father Pat Monette as Celebrant. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9.
