YACIANSKY, Jerry
April 1, 1930 — February 24, 2017
Passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the age of 86. Survived by his loving wife Betty; daughter Elaine (Maurice) Poitras of Kelowna, son Al (Sherryl) Yaciansky of the Sunshine Coast, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents John and Mary Yaciansky, his sister Anne Sedlack and nephew John Sedlack.
Jerry Yaciansky was born April 1, 1930 in Regina, SK. Jerry met Betty in 1954 and they were later married in January 1956. Jerry and Betty then moved to Victoria where Jerry worked as an oil burner and sheet metal tradesperson. In 1959 Jerry and Betty returned to Rutland where he worked at the sawmill before being hired by SD 23. Jerry worked at the School District until his retirement in 1993.
Jerry loved the outdoors, fishing and camping every chance he could. In addition, they enjoyed several trips to the USA and Europe. After retirement Jerry enjoyed being the handyman at the complex where they lived. Jerry’s health necessitated his stay at Sutherland Care Home beginning in 2013. Jerry was very fond of the staff at Sutherland and received amazing care.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC with Father Pat Monette officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9.
