We Remember
YANG, Tsun-Ming “James”
November 14, 1951 — September 24, 2023
On September 24, 2023, James Yang passed away peacefully beside his family at the age of 71. James was born on November 14, 1951. He is survived by his wife You-Chi Liao; children Kevin and Gary (Chongya); and grandchildren Alex and Maverick.
James, a native of Taiwan, spent his formative years in his homeland, where he forged a career as a Civil Engineer. In his late twenties, he married the love of his life, You-Chi Liao, and for the subsequent 43 years, their adventures together blossomed. In 1994, they embarked on a new chapter by immigrating to Vancouver, BC, where James balanced his professional commitments between Taiwan and Canada until his well-deserved retirement in 2013. In 2021, they relocated to Kelowna, BC, drawn by the desire to be closer to their beloved grandchildren.
James enjoyed embarking on long road trips with his family and has taken his wife and two sons across Canada and the United States. He was a pillar, not just for his wife and sons, but also for his siblings and his parents back in Taiwan. James ensured that his two sons received every opportunity to become successful and happy; his core values will live on through them. James also possessed a deep appreciation for music, filmography, and the game of basketball. His qualities of responsibility, intelligence, and generosity endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
