We Remember
YOUNG, Robert “Bob”
January 23, 1951 — August 27, 2026
“The forest does not weep when an old oak falls; it quietly uses the space to let the sunlight through.”
With a heavy heart, I share the news of the passing of my spouse of 48 years, Robert “Bob” Young.
In 1985, Bob began what would become a remarkable career with Colliers International (Calgary). For more than 30 years, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike through his integrity, work ethic, and determination.
Together, we travelled extensively, enjoyed our adventures, and gathered a lifetime of friends and memories.
Generous, gregarious, and fun to be with, he lived life to the fullest.
He will be deeply missed.

Dear Grace, Our hearfelt condolences on the loss of Bob. We will so miss his friendship, humour, spirited conversation…..and that wonderful “Bob way” of challenging us to look at things just a little differently.
We were so fortunate to call him our friend. There will only ever be one Bob – and we will remember him with great affection and many smiles.
Hugs, Merrilee & Murray xo

So very Sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was an old friend from our Little League days in Trail. He could throw the heat..
I am so sorry to hear about Bob, Grace. Thank you to you both for being such good friends when we first arrived in Kelowna. Keeping you in my heart and thoughts in the difficult days ahead.
Love Bev and Roger
Bobby – my dad always called him – Bobby Young. As a kid Bob and Grace were those “cool” friends of my parents with the motorcycles or red convertible and always the best dogs! Bob was a good friend to my dad and I am so glad we got to have a relationship of our own after dad passed. He never forgot to send holiday greetings and a text now and then just to check in – I wish our paths had crossed more often as I would love to hear so much more about his time in Calgary and of course as a boy with my dad and his pals. Bob, my dad and their boyhood friends were always so neat to see as when o saw them together it always seemed like they picked up exactly where they left off like no time had passed. Grace, I am so saddened by your loss and know that you made a phenomenal pair and created an incredible life together. I am so grateful for the friendship both on behalf of my dad and my family. Bob will be missed so much.
Our deepest condolences on Bob’s passing. We were shocked and saddened to hear this news. We have fond memories of Bob both professionally and personally. Bill especially enjoyed playing golf with Bob over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Grace.

Dear Grace We are very sorry for you loss.. You and Bob make a great couple….Bob’s unbridled enthusiasm and your forever youthfulness. When Bob and I would meet, sometime in the discussion, he would mention that your relationship was the best thing in his life. Hopefully sometime in the future we can get together to share out thoughts on Bob’s incredible life.
Grace —
Accept our heartfelt condolences. Boy we could write a book on the crap we used to pull off when we were young and stupid. He was a good friend.
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Bob’s sudden passing. His presence in the neighborhood will be missed. He and his golf cart could often be seen at the end of someone’s driveway, passing the time away in spirited conversation. Our thoughts are with you.
My deepest sympathy to Grace and all of his friends. We’ve lost a very unique character. I’ve known Bob since grade-school days. We re-connected years ago at another friend’s celebration-of-life. He sustained that process putting energy into rebuilding those distant connections. More recently, when another grade-school acquaintance with big life challenges from birth was in need financially, Bob joined me and another to assist him through some difficult periods.
Support work aside, we’d catch up a bit on the phone gleefully revisiting adolescent and teenage memories, and especially relishing the juicy bits of stories where we inevitably annoyed neighbours and caused endless worry for parents. Pure reckless energy was always present. Most of these are better left to memory rather than incriminating the guilty and tarnishing his reputation.
We talked on his last morning. He signed off with “See ya on the other side”. I’ll never forget him. And Grace, with all of your strength which Bob was always amazed by – and when you’re feeling able – perhaps you might consider a gathering in his honour?
Grace I’m so surprised and sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was one of the good ones. Bob and I worked together with Colliers for many years he in Calgary and me in Edmonton. He was a great competitor and a wonderful fellow to have on your side. I have many good memories of Golf , Colliers‘s parties and conversations with Bob. He will be missed.
My sympathies,George Dawson
