We Remember

ZABOWSKI, Wilma

July 24, 1939 — November 22, 2020

Wilma passed away of stroke on November 22, 2020, at the age of 81. She is survived by her daughters Gwen Weslak (David), Gloria Boyer, and Laura Zabowski; grandchildren April Cave (Kyle) Crystal Young (Josiah), Amanda Day (Chris); great-grandchildren Alex, Alyssa, Blakely, Jaxson, and Lucas; sister Almina Cailloux (Louis); brothers Stanley Korb, Roland Korb, David Korb (Henrietta); sister-in-law Barbara Korb; as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Edward; parents Alex and Susan; siblings Raymond and Elaine; brothers- and sisters-in-law Annie Zorn, Joe/Mary Stan/Frances, Tony/Florence, Jack/Pearl.

The second of seven children, Wilma was born on July 24, 1939 in Runnymede, Saskatchewan, then in her late teens She moved from the farm to Winnipeg, MB with her older brother. In 1957, she married Edward. She worked in retail in Winnipeg, and throughout her life, as well as raising our family. Mom and Dad moved to the Okanagan in the early 80s, and before retirement and after they enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Texas, and Arizona. When Mom lost Dad 15 years ago she became very lonely. Thank goodness she still drove as that got her to Bingo which she enjoyed and it helped pass the time. Once the pandemic hit, it was tough on the seniors, but recently the coffee group at the Wedgwood met every morning and that was good company for Mom.

We love you Mom; you will be missed by the lives you touched.

Condolences

  • Gord and Gwen Herrmann says:

We are so sorry for your loss. Our deepest condolences. Wilma was a wonderful lady and she and Ed were the reason that we have become such good friends with Gwen and Dave and the whole family ever since Ed and Wilma lived next door to Mom and Dad. She will be missed but is once again in the arms of her beloved husband and visiting with Frieda and all of the other friends and relatives that are no longer with us. Sending all our Love, Gord and Gwen.
