We Remember
ZADER, Alma
August 12, 1935 — September 3, 2024
Alma Zader went home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2024, in Kelowna, BC.
Alma Zader was born on August 12, 1935 in Stepanowka, Poland to August and Olga Ginter. When she was 4 years old, her family was resettled to Wartegau, Poland by German forces along with many other Germans. Her older brother Daniel was forced into the German army and never returned. That was a great loss to the family.
In January 1945, after being overrun by the Russian Army, the family lost everything and became prisoners of war for 4 ½ years in Poland.
In 1949, they were released and after much help from relatives were smuggled from East German to West Germany where, in February 1950, by the Grace of God, they immigrated to Canada.
At age 14, Alma accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal saviour and was baptized in Minitonas, Manitoba and joined the First Baptist Church.
In June 1952, Alma married Alfred Zader, and they shared 54 years together. They were blessed with three children, two daughters Myrtle born in 1955, Miriam in 1956 and one son Nelson (1963). That same year, Alma’s younger sister Frieda, aged 12, was struck and killed while crossing a highway. This devastating loss deeply affected the entire family.
In November 1968, the Zader family moved to Kelowna, where they joined a loving fellowship of believers at Grace Baptist Church and took part in the work of the Lord.
Alma enjoyed baking, needlepoint and gardening. These passions continued into Alma’s later years.
Alma was predeceased by her husband Alfred; and brother Daniel, brother Arthur, and sister Frieda. She is survived by her brother Ace Ginter (Sylvia); daughters Myrtle Fuellbrandt (Hart), Miriam Zader and son Nelson (Melody); 4 grandchildren, Carmen (Joseph), Mark (Ange), Nicole (Kevin) and Jordan (Erin); 3 great-grandchildren, Mateo, Amalia, and Georgia.
She will be forever loved and missed by her family until we meet again in our Heavenly Home.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 10:00 am (PDT), at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, with Pastor Ed Hahn officiating, and a reception to follow. I will remember your mom as loving and gracious. When I came to visit you Miriam, I enjoyed visiting with her as well. She always put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. I will be there “on-line” on Monday to celebrate her life with you. Hugs to you and condolences to the family as you say “farewell for now”.
Love Darlene 🩷
My memories of Auntie Alma include her strong faith, overcoming health challenges, purposeful in sharing her many skills (gardening, cooking, baking, canning, to name a few) which made others feel and know they were cared about. Our sincerest condolences to everyone in her family and those close to her. Time may ease the feelings of loss but one day memories of your time with her will bring a smile to your face and comfort you. She will be remembered by many.
With love, Ruby Frenette (nee Liebholz)

Dear Miriam, Myrtle and Nelson and Family,
Greetings from Toronto. My sister Inge and I appreciated having had the opportunity to view the live stream of your mom’s funeral service. It was a very meaningful and fitting celebration of her life. Although it has been many years that we saw your mom in person, we did receive updates from various other family members in our extended family residing in Toronto. Your mom was an awesome lady, who loved family and loved the Lord. We extend our condolences, send our love and wish you peace and comfort in the knowledge that she is with her Lord.
Many Hugs,
Inge Kothleitner and Lothar Maier with our Families.
Due to being out of town, we missed being there today, but were with you all in spirit. So grateful for the online option. Beautiful and memorable service.
Roland and Hanni.

The loss of family is never easy but as time goes on may Aunt Alma’s memory warm all the corners of your hearts. We send our best in this difficult time.
I have such precious memories of Alma. She and Alfred were so good to my parents–like family–when they moved from Minitonas to Kelowna and were members at Grace Baptist Church. I was blessed whenever they came to Hawaii and we fellowshipped together. Of course visiting Alma in Kelowna whenever my sister and I came was always very special and experiencing her friendship and generosity with produce from her garden when we left confirmed what others enjoyed, too. Alma was a precious sister in Christ and she has passed on that quality to all her children, who can definitely treasure her memory, but most of all when we all get together in heaven…what a day of rejoicing that will be. May her tribe increase as you continue to bless others by sharing that FAITH, HOPE and LOVE of your parents with your friends and future generations. God bless all of you as you weep for the night…but JOY comes in the morning..
