We Remember
Zdobylak, Maria
January 1, 1922 — October 15, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Maria Zdobylak. She was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada with her family, via England, in 1951. She was a hardworking, generous and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear companion to her late husband Kaz, who predeceased her in 2002. Maria will be missed by her two daughters, Helen (Frank) Preissl, and Teresa (Merrill) Myers, seven granddaughters, 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Mountainview Village Good Samaritan care home for their most tender care of our mother; it is appreciated beyond words.
Mom, may you have a joyous re-union with the rest of your family that you lost so long ago. In God’s Name, may you rest in glorious peace. Private family gathering to be arranged.

We are so sorry for your loss. Our family had the great pleasure of knowing both Maria and Kaz as they welcomed us as neighbours when we moved into our new home 20 years ago. There were many afternoons spent over the fence sharing stories and the many “goodies” from their garden. May your family find peace in the memories you have. Allan, Sharon & Jenna
On behalf of The Catholic Women’s League of St. Theresa’s Council I would like to send condolences from all of us. She was a faithful member for many years. May she rest in peace.
Your mother, Maria, and her late husband, Kaz were friends with my parents, Maria and Peter Kula, going way back to the days of Second World War and to post-war England. I, in particular, enjoyed our family get-togethers in East Kelowna in the late ’50s and early ’60s. I remember Maria for her ever-present smile and kind words. You couldn’t find a gentler soul. May she rest in peace. To read about our families’ common heritage, please read “Maria’s Story,” by Joseph Kula (Friesen Press) and on-line at Amazon.com –Joseph Kula, Delta, B.C.
On behalf of Kelowna Polish Cultural Society I would like to extend our condolence to the Family. We are sorry for your loss. Maria and Kaz were long time members of the Society, hard workers and good friends. We will have many wonderful memories. May she rest in peace.
I would like to send you my condolences. In actuality it is a time of great joy as Grandma is not stuck in that old failing body but is dancing a jig in her new heavenly body.If there ever was a soul who belonged in heaven it was Grandma. Rest easy and assured that she is with Grandpa in heaven. “In my Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so would I have told you so. john 14:2 .Blessings to you all.
I am very sorry to hear of Maria’s passing. I cared for her at Mountainview Village; she was always keeping busy and always was eager to give you a smile and hold your hand. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her each day, may she rest in peace.
Dear Theresa & Helen and family ..
Our deepest sympathies on your Mom loss, She was a Great Lady….
