We Remember

ZIDLE, Joan Marie

January 27, 1932 — February 9, 2014

It is with deep sadness to announce that Joan passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2014 following a long and difficult struggle with various illnesses.  She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Seymour, her daughter Lynn Fowler, sons David Fowler and Mark Fowler, all of Winnipeg, MB, son Kenneth Fowler of Lillooet, BC, grandchildren Kevin and Meaghan Fowler of Winnipeg, MB, step-daughters Andrea (Dwayne) Nittel of Kelowna, BC and Audrey (James) Goodwin of Vancouver, BC, grandchildren James (Tessa) Lai of Redmond City, CA and Dana Lai of Vancouver, BC, as well as many nephews and nieces.  She will also be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law Sandra Burke of Amherst, NS, and Sheina Zidel and Carole Zidle of Montreal, QC.  Joan is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Effie Burke, her brother Harold of Amherst, NS, her brothers-in-law Carl Zidel and Buddy Zidle of Montreal, as well as her nephew Hal Burke, and great-niece Julia Zidel.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 9R5.  There will be a Celebration of Life for her on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

    My thoughts and prayers are with you, Seymour. I have fond memories of Joan and the time spent with the KGH flower ladies in the gift shop where we shared a giggle or two! Please accept my sincerest sympathy from the bottom of my heart. She will be remembered always.

    Seymour and family, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Joan. My last memory of Joan was coming to the OJC family BBQ last summer. She looked happy being outside and looking out over beautiful lake okanagan. This is how I will remember Joan. Our prayers go out to you, Seymour and your family. May you always have fond memories of your time with Joan that will always live on in your heart. May you find peace at such a difficult time. Thinking of you. Natalie, David and family.
