We Remember
ZIMMER, Loraine Elizabeth
April 9, 1941 — September 2, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Loraine Elizabeth Zimmer (née Schaan) age 83 years, on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Kelowna General Hospital with family by her side.
Predeceased by husband Klaus and parents Rudolph and Lydia. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, her sons Randy (Jackie) and Trevor (Razini), and sister Loretta (Kenneth).
Loraine was born and raised on the family farm outside of Langenburg, Saskatchewan. As a young woman, she taught in one room schoolhouses before she married, moved to Regina, and raised a family of her own. Always full of life and fun, Loraine spread joy and brightened every room she entered. Passionate about fashion, she worked in the women’s department at The Bay for many years. After her husband’s retirement, she and Klaus spent summers at their camper on Lake of the Prairies, fishing and frying up pickerel, while their winters were spent in sunny Hemet, California. After time, they added a condo in Kelowna, BC, which Loraine loved to decorate and called home for almost twenty years after she was widowed. Loraine’s final months were spent at Orchard Gardens sharing smiles and laughs, offering warm hugs, and tearing up the dance floor with her newfound friends.
A special thanks to all the aides and nurses at Kelowna Homecare Solutions for their unparalleled care, friendship, and compassion. As well, our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses in ICU B for being there for Loraine in her final hours and comforting family. We will remember you all as we grieve.
Cremation has taken place.

I’m a former student of Lorraine’s in a small country school at Bethune Sask. She lived in a little teacher age house at the school in the country. A very good teacher and pleasant lady. She also boarded with my parents prior to living by the school. She and Klaus would come occasionally and visit. Haven’t seen them for years and always wondered where they were. My deepest sympathy to all the family . Daryl Cookson
My sincere condolences to Randy and Trevor and family. I worked with your mom and The Bay in Regina and became best friends with her and your dad. I am saddened to hear of your mom’s passing, I hadn’t heard from her in awhile and we usually chatted on FB. Hugh and I are in shock hearing the news and are sending you all our sincere condolences.
