ZIMMER, Walter Daniel

Walter Daniel Zimmer born June 12, 1935 in Pittman, Saskatchewan, passed away September 23, 2015 in Kelowna, BC.

 

Survived by his loving wife Sandra, daughters Chris (Doug), Linda (Howard), Kim (Mark), Denise(Ajey); son Danny (Kirsten); grandchildren Matthew, David, Jake, Lane and Nate; brothers Ron (Phylis), Gerry (Jeannette). Predeceased by his parents Anne and Daniel Zimmer.

 

Walt helped his father on the farm from a young age, taking over the farm after his father retired in 1959. After retiring from farming, he worked for Polaris Snowmobiles in sales turning his passion into racing snowmobile’s professionally for Polaris. Walt worked in farm equipment sales for many years and chose a career as a realtor prior to retiring to Kelowna in 1995.

 

Walt was a member of the Elks Lodge in Regina and Kelowna. He had the pleasure of coaching his son Danny in curling and baseball. He enjoyed snowmobiling, rv’ing, curling, golf, slow pitch, volleyball, camping, fishing and was a dedicated Rider Fan. He represented BC in the Senior’s National Curling Championship in 1998. Walt had a passion for woodworking.

 

A special thanks to Dr. L. O’Neill and the staff at Sun Pointe Village for being so amazingly dedicated, loving and caring and all of your efforts to make Walt feel a part of your family at Sun Pointe. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 10:30 am at Sun Pointe Village, 700 Rutland Road North, Kelowna, BC.
