We Remember
ZOKOL (nee: Zitko), Elsie Helen
January 1, 1921 — May 16, 2019
The Zokol family sadly announces the completion of the vibrant life of Elsie Helen Zokol. Born in Anyox, B.C., she grew up in the Strathcona neighborhood of Vancouver. Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dr. Joseph Zokol, whom she supported through his schooling and his professional career.
She was a passionate golfer and bridge player at Marine Drive Golf Club, where she was a member for over 50 years.
On May 16, 2019, Elsie passed away with the same tenacious spirit she lived her life.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Ron (Marie), Janet Brooks (Gordon), Dr. Deborah, Richard (Joanie); and grandchildren Ryan, Richard, Robert, Garrett, Conor, and Hayley; brother Henry Zitko (Mary).
She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered. Please donate to your favourite charity in lieu of flowers.

No visit to Vancouver with Elsie’s niece Shirley, my wife of 52 years, was complete without a visit to Aunt Elsie. I was a bit taken aback after our first encounter because you don’t meet feisty people like Elsie very often. But I soon came under her spell and our conversations were always animated and fun. She lived a long, good life, raising four beautiful children and making a difference in her community. We will miss her a lot. R.I.P. Aunt Elsie.
Your Mom was a very special lady who will certainly be missed by her family and friends.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all
What a lovely lady. Vibrant, energetic and positive. I had the honor of meeting Elsie while I caddied for Dick a few times. She was so supportive of her children and always had a kind word for everybody. Our thoughts are with you.
