We Remember

Zukowski, Dean

June 22, 1985 — May 13, 2023

Dean was born on June 22, 1985, and passed away on May 13, 2023, at his home in Kelowna, BC at the age of 37. He will be forever loved and remembered by his parents, Dwayne and Donna, his older brother Matt (Mel), nephews Harleigh and Kaiden, his younger brother Jason, and his godparents Ron and Sharon Stevenson and Helen Spasoff. Dean is remembered and loved by many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Born and raised in Kelowna, BC, Dean was known for his kind heart with a gentle, compassionate, appreciative spirit. Dean loved the Okanagan, the lake, the mountains, and the orchards. Dean felt he lived in the most beautiful community and recognized and spoke about small acts of kindness encountered every day. In his younger years, he was an avid snowboarder, swimmer, and rugby player, and we will be seeing Dean in all the old familiar places where he loved to walk. Dean’s love of the outdoors is reflected in the creative poems and stories he left for his family and friends to enjoy.

Dean is now at rest in his heavenly home, with Jesus, and we hold him close within our hearts, our minds, and our spirit.

The family invites you to gather and celebrate Dean’s life on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 1:00 pm at St. George’s Anglican Church, 3690 Brown Rd, West Kelowna, BC.

In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to our local Camp Owaissi, www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/t/82815?v2=true, or you may choose a charity near and dear to your heart, in memory of Dean.

  • Valerie Hayes says:

Sending love, prayers and condolences to Dwayne, Donna, Matt, Jason and their partners, as well as the rest of the family. When I think of Dean’s gentle spirit and his passing, it brings these verses to mind from Matthew 5: 3-5
“3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
4 – Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted
5 – Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”
And to Dwayne and Donna and the rest of the family God’s word and promises are a comfort – Romans 8: 18
” For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us”.
I am thinking of all of you, and how our hearts and memories are joined as family, and a larger network, whose lives are touched by both the struggles, and the joy as we remember Dean. He was humble and kind, and as a little boy, he asked the most comical questions.. I am forever thankful for God’s promises, knowing he has abundant love, compassion and mercy. May God bless you and uplift you during this time of sorrow. Sending much love from Auntie Val
