John spent his early years in Alberta, moving to Kelowna at the age of 12, where he grew to love the Okanagan Valley. A true outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed fishing, downhill skiing, and camping, and embraced an active, athletic lifestyle. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures and often dreamed of living closer to nature, away from modern distractions.
Professionally, John worked as a Fisheries Technician, a role that allowed him to combine his passion for the natural world with his career.
He will be fondly remembered for his humour, including his lighthearted favourite phrase, “Wooden shoes; wooden head; wooden listen!”

I cant believe your gone..I just want to thank you for being such an amazing stepfather and sharing your love and guidance throughout our childhood. I’m so grateful to have had you as our father figure you were always there when we needed advice or help guide us to the right path. I’m thankful and proud to call you my father even though it’s not by blood, you are the only person to show us what fatherly love was in our lives… I will remember you for all the happy fun memories we made when you were teaching us to fish, camp, ski, ride snowmobiles, and your smile when you became a step grandfather .
