“We have one son. That’s all the family we have. And he lives in Regina at this point. And I just felt it’s not fair to, to uh, put all this pressure on him after, when someone, a parent passes away. And I felt it would be easier if we did that beforehand.”

“The facts were there, and so we wanted to prepare and to give also our family the same gift that my mother had given to us. And to ease that, that burden when the time came.”

“The funny part is I went to a couple of different funeral homes and I walked in, and it was almost, left with a bad feeling because all that happened is that a guy came out, in a suit, and he said, “OK, here’s this brochure, here’s this brochure, here’s this. Take this home, read it and then you can give us a call.” And to me it was like, “Wow, that’s not right!” You know, I’m a person here and I’m trying to deal with mortality, I’m trying to deal with something that – to me – is an important issue. And so when I came here, it was great, as soon as I walked in and I told the young lady at the desk that I was, you know, wanted to look into funeral arrangements and stuff, boom, I had somebody I could actually talk to.”

“And she was so helpful that way, in reassuring us that all of the prices that we were paying were sealed and, and guaranteed.”

“Once we had the arrangement made with Springfield here, we had a card in our wallets that said, if anything should happen – call them, and they would look after things. So that gave us a sense of freedom without having to wonder, ‘Well, what if?'”

“So think about it – if you can – ahead of time, because in the moment it can be very, very overwhelming, and emotional and you don’t know how you are going to respond in the moment. So as much as you can, pre-plan as much as you can.”
