We Remember

DELGATTY, Katie

June 19, 1987 — May 4, 2026

Kathline “Katie” Faye Delgatty, 38 years old, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at Kelowna General Hospital after a 26-year battle with a rare brain tumour. Her strength and will to be well and live were incredible and an inspiration.

Katie was born in Kelowna on June 19, 1987, to Brian Delgatty and Michelle McCaig alongside her twin sister, Annie. They grew up their whole lives enjoying all that the beautiful Okanagan Valley has to offer. Katie and Annie shared their whole lives not only as sisters, but as absolute best friends.

She met the love of her life, Kaylin, in math class at 13 years old and after a couple of childhood on-and-offs, they settled into life together, spending the last 21 years inseparably side by side. They grew up into adulthood enjoying bonfires, camping, boating, and side-by-siding with their group of friends that are more like family, rather than just friends. Though they didn’t have children of their own, they were able to share their lives and love with their nieces and nephews. Katie is an auntie that will be missed beyond measure.

Katie was very proud of her career as a hairdresser and color educator before she had to end her work early due to her illness. Katie loved gardening and pottery. She was a devoted and doting pet mom to her beloved dogs and cats. She had an eye for special pieces, be it a lovely mug, or the perfect wall color or decoration, a unique plant for the patio, or special little trinket. She was a master at appreciating beauty in the simple or mundane things that people tend to miss. She saw the beauty in her surroundings, never failing to appreciate blossoms in bloom, or the beauty driving past a lake or a mountain range. Katie was a loyal friend and a supportive, dependable listener. She had a way of surprising you with her quick comebacks and witty sense of humour.

Katie was a treasure and gift to this world and will be deeply missed by so many people.

Katie is survived by her husband, Kaylin; mother, Michelle; twin sister, Annie (Doug, Kalia, and Griffin). Katie was predeceased a month earlier (to the day) by her father, Brian, who has surely greeted her with open arms.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Katie’s name to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, where she was cared for over the years and underwent her first of two life-saving surgeries at 12 years old.
