We Remember
HILL, Gladys Eleanor
May 16, 1938 — July 9, 2026
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gladys Eleanor Hill, who went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2026, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 88.
Left to hold her dear to their hearts are her sons Craig and Spencer; sisters Marilyn and Jenny; brother Norman; grandson Benjamine; brother-in-law Graham (Lilliana); countless nieces and nephews; and Pastor Jared at Westside Alliance Church.
She now goes to join those who passed before her, including her beloved husband, Brent Hill (d. 2020), and dear son, Dean Hill (d. 1992).
Gladys was born on May 16, 1938, and grew up with a large family of 10 children surrounded by love, she learned the importance of family from an early age. She spent many years working as an office manager, but anyone who knew Gladys knew that her true passion was sewing. Quilting, mending, creating—if it involved a needle and thread, she was happiest. She found so much joy in making beautiful things for others that she often sold her handmade creations for the cost of the materials, simply so she could keep doing what she loved. She also looked forward to a good game of Canasta and could easily spend hours smiling at TikTok videos of babies and young children, who never failed to brighten her day.
More than anything, Gladys loved her family with her whole heart, as was evident in the courage, love, and compassion she showed her son Dean, who was lovingly cared for by Gladys during his last seven years. She adored children and had a gentle way of making those around her feel loved. This past year, she faced every challenge with incredible courage and strength, showing a bravery that inspired everyone who walked alongside her.
Gladys was truly loved and adored by so many, and her loss is felt deeply. While it is impossible to put into words how much she will be missed, there is comfort in knowing she is once again with her beloved husband, Brent, and son, Dean, which brings peace to those who loved her.
Her memory will live on in the family she cherished, the quilts she lovingly stitched, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
