We Remember

LeROY, Crystal Eileen (née Martindale)
—
Went to be with the Lord on Friday April 1, 2016 at the age of 91. Crystal Eileen was born in Rosetown, SK on August 8, 1924 to parents Thomas and Mabel and grew up with 3 sisters and 1 brother on a farm in Sovereign, SK. She grew up a very good student and graduated from Sovereign High School in June of 1941. She had aspired to be a nurse, but she met Ronald and they married on May 4, 1946 and started their family shortly after. A few years later they moved from Saskatchewan to Alberta and eventually made their home in Whitecourt, Alberta where they finished raising their family of 4 children.
Crystal was known for her sewing and especially her baking and always had a special treat of cookies or her famous Sour Cream pie for her family and friends. She made quite a few friends and really enjoyed her time working at the optometrist office. She loved dining out and dancing the night away – Crystal always dressed impeccably – she and Ron were a beautiful sight to see on the dance floor. She was thoughtful and kind, she always had a gift and card for every occasion. She was an avid reader, often lost in a romance novel in her free time or on her computer sending letters and doing her puzzles.
In the late 80’s Ron and Crystal retired to the sunny Okanagan in Kelowna where she was very active at the Legion and she became quite the competitor in shuffleboard with a few trophies to her name. She loved antiquing and garage sales, seeing all the shows that came to town and travelling to see her friends and family. She had a full healthy and blessed life and she will be dearly missed.
Predeceased by her daughter Anita Metrunec (LeRoy), son Dennis LeRoy and survived by her loving husband Ronald LeRoy, sons Tim Leroy (Nancy Ferguson) and Warren Leroy (Shelly White), daughter-in-law Anne LeRoy; grandchildren Jennifer LaChance (Larson), Jason Larson, Bonita Crozier (LeRoy), Dawn LeRoy, Chantaine LeRoy and Charles LeRoy, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
