We Remember

OGILVIE, David Drummond

February 17, 1936 — September 10, 2024

It is with great sadness and profound love that we announce the loss of David Drummond Ogilvie, who passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the age of 88.

Dave leaves behind a wealth of love, including his beloved wife of 46 years, Ann; four children, David Beairsto, Doug (Karen) Beairsto, Ed (Sylvia) Beairsto, and Darlene Beairsto; his best bud and fur baby, Pablo; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Elmer (Anita) Kabush; and niece Janice Rosen.

He now goes to join those who passed before him, including his siblings, Jimmy, Bob, Georgie, Doris, Irene, and Jean.

Dave was a true jack of all trades—built like a rock, with a heart just as solid. Known for his incredible ability to fix anything, there was nothing he couldn’t make right with a set of tools and a little determination. His love for collecting was well known, treasures each with a story that reflected his passion for craftsmanship and history.

In his younger years, Dave was an avid athlete who enjoyed Judo. His strength and discipline from the sport remained with him throughout his life, not only in his physical presence but in his commitment to his family and friends. Dave was also a fan of the water, spending countless hours boating and enjoying the serenity that life on the lake brought him. After a lifetime of hard work, he moved to the Okanagan, a place he fell in love with, to enjoy his retirement years surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes and, most importantly, his family.

Above all else, Dave treasured his loved ones, and his family was the centre of his world. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and countless cherished memories. Dave will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His spirit, generosity, and unshakable sense of loyalty will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A private family gathering will be held in his honour, where stories of his incredible life will be shared and celebrated.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
