We Remember

TATARYN, Doreen “Nickie”

August 31, 1937 — September 8, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Tataryn on September 8, 2024, at 87 years of age. Doreen passed away quietly and unexpectedly in the early hours of the morning at home. Doreen was born August 31, 1937, in a log cabin in the Mission area, in Kelowna, BC.

Doreen is survived by her children, Terri, Todd (Rita), Brent (Kimberley), and three beautiful granddaughters, Danielle (Zack), Brianna (Ryan), and Tatum. Doreen also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. She was predeceased, recently, by her husband of 62 years, Aaron. She survived him by only one month and a day. She was also predeceased by her parents and all her siblings, Ellen “Toots”, Violet “Tiny”, Clarence “Sonny”, Cecil “Bud”, Annabelle, Alice “Allie”, Joanna “Joan”, Rosemary “Rosy”, and her brother-in-law.

Born to Clarence Favell and Edna Polkosnik, Doreen was the eighth child of nine, including seven girls and two boys. She worked at SuperValu and Safeway for over 40 years before her retirement.

Playing Bingo was her favourite pastime, as well as going on trips to Reno. She was excited to take each of her granddaughters to play Bingo when they each turned the legal age of nineteen. She was so proud of each girl and loved to talk about them. Her life was full of work, family, and love. Doreen was kind, considerate, respected by all those who had the pleasure to know and love her.

Doreen “Granny” will be forever loved, always missed, and never forgotten.
