We Remember
WHITTLE, W. Douglas
December 21, 1930 — July 17, 2024
On July 17, 2024, in Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna, BC, Wilfred Douglas Whittle passed away at the age of 93. Doug was born on December 21, 1930, in Vancouver, BC.
Sadly, Doug was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Beverley Whittle (née King). Together they had five wonderful children: daughter Susan (Bruce) Vidal; son Brian (Sylvie); son Mark; son Bradley (Lawrene); son Cameron (Colleen); and eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Doug, a fondly remembered figure in Kelowna, was known for his dedication to the community. As a founding member of the Kelowna Aqua Jets, he and Beverley played a vital role in nurturing the local swimming scene. His leadership shone through during his time as Commodore at the Kelowna Yacht Club in 1988/89.
Doug’s passion for golf led him to spend countless hours at KGCC, where he enjoyed the camaraderie. Unfortunately, an accident in 2020 brought an end to his time on the greens, but his love for the sport never stopped.
He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving children, leaving behind fond memories. Doug and Beverley are remembered for the strong bonds they made with their family and community.

So sorry for your families loss, take care of yourselves!
Doug was a great friend and gentleman. Doug and I had many great moments remembering our times as Past Commodores of the Kelowna Yacht Club.
I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend.
